چکیده

University of Leeds, Leeds, UK Full list of author information is available at the end of the article Figure 1 CMR images from a 63 years old male who presented with an anterior ST elevation myocardial infarction. Early after reperfusion, T2W images demonstrated increased signal intensity (myocardial oedema) in the interventricular septum. However, the extent of oedema gradually decreased and by 3 months was undetectable. LGE images from the same patient demonstrated almost transmural infarction in the septum. MVO is present at ‘day 2’ and ‘1 week’ after reperfusion (dark core within the infarct zone) but is undetectable at ‘1 month’. The infarct size decreased during the first month after reperfusion. Late gadolinium-enhanced cardiovascular magnetic resonance evaluation of infarct size and microvascular obstruction in optimally treated patients after acute myocardial infarction.

PURPOSE Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is considered the standard imaging modality in clinical trials to monitor patients after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). However, limited data is available with respect to infarct size, presence, and extent of microvascular injury (MVO), and changes over time, in relation to cardiac function in these optimally treated patients. In this study, w...

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...

CARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE Infarct zone viability influences ventricular remodelling after late recanalisation of an occluded infarct related artery

Objective: To investigate the influence of infarct zone viability on remodelling after late recanalisation of an occluded infarct related artery. Methods: A subgroup of 26 volunteers from TOAT (the open artery trial) underwent dobutamine stress cardiovascular magnetic resonance at baseline to assess the amount of viable myocardium present with follow up to assess remodelling at one year. TOAT s...

Right ventricular dysfunction assessed by cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging predicts poor prognosis late after myocardial infarction.

OBJECTIVES We sought to determine whether right ventricular (RV) function late after myocardial infarction (MI) impacts long-term prognosis. BACKGROUND Right ventricular failure predicts early mortality in patients with acute MI. The prognostic impact of RV function late after MI is not well defined. Accordingly, we determined whether RV dysfunction late after MI influences survival beyond tr...
